Generation 2, Chapter 37 - It's Time Part 5

Authors note: anything in a different color is a telepathic conversation that not all the characters can hear. Sorry if it's confusing but hopefully it makes sense.

When the men entered the cell carrying the unconscious bodies of Percy and Adam, Elliot stood up to confront them. Ignoring the not so gentle tug on his arm from Kyle. Elliot asked "what have you done to them?"

Smiling a little, one of the men said "you'll find out soon enough." The men began to exit the cell. Elliot went to intercept them when Chase grabbed his arm "don't" he said.

The cell door clanged shut. As the men left the dungeon Elliot turned on Chase "what the hell? Why'd you stop me?"

"Because you're brother sacrificed himself so that you could have a normal life once you leave here." Chase shouted back at him. "Those werewolves want another pack member. Once your a pack member you never want to leave. Is that what you want?"

Elliot stared at him for a moment shaking his head "is that what happened to them?" Pointing towards the prone bodies of Adam and Percy "were they turned into werewolves?" Kneeling beside them Chase inspected the bites on Adams neck and the deep gash in their wrists. Staring at the far wall Chase slowly stood up. "Well?" Elliot asked impatiently.

"Not werewolf," Chase said "vampire."

"What? They turned my brother into a blood thirsty monster." Elliot stared at Chase a moment before dropping down beside Adam looking at his wounds. "He's still alive," he said "his hearts still beating."

Laughing Chase pulled Elliot to his feet "you watch too much TV. Your brother will be fine. He's been adopted as the son of the most powerful vampire in existence. He will carry his human part with him as he changes and takes on more vampire characteristics."

Kyle considered his words then asked "Percy doesn't have the same bites. What happened to him?"

"Ceremonial blood mixing. Kind of like becoming blood brothers except more powerful. They will be linked. If one is in trouble the other will know it. Be able to sense it. Hear each other's thoughts telepathically. Only the most powerful vampires have that ability though."

"But he's not a vampire," Elliot hissed.

"Not at the moment but he will be," Chase told him "he'll be very powerful too. He is the son of Alessandro and Selene, prince, heir to the throne."

"If he's a vampire shouldn't you be changing?" Elliot asked

"I don't see why," Chase shrugged "I am descended through Heath his halfling son. His vamperism would have no effect on me or Emit."

"Just any children born afterwards," Kyle stated.

"Right," Chase agreed "I'm sorry this is all my fault. If I hadn't wanted revenge none of this would have happened."

Kyle looked at him sympathy evident in his blue eyes "any of us might have done the same. If we had been told our mother had been murdered and done what we were told would save her. Don't punish yourself anymore. We are all in this boat together."

"No you'll be able to leave here if you want but I'll have to stay here," Chase said glumly.

"Why?" Elliot asked "It's not like people  know IF's and halflings exist. They don't even notice."

"You don't understand," Chase said irritation evident in his tone. "I'm guilty of a crime against a halfling. I will be hunted down to be taken to Midnight Hollow to answer for what I've done."

"Not if I tell them not to," Adam said sitting up. "IFs are under my domain. As prince to Alessandro they will  have to listen to me."

"Adam you're alright," Elliot said relieved.

Shrugging Adam said "alright is a relative term but I'm alive."

"Adam I'm so afraid"Elliot said hanging his head.

"I know baby brother," Adam wrapped his arms around him "but it's going to be alright."

"How? You've been turned into monsters" Elliot mumbled into his shoulder.

"Do I look like a monster? Am I acting like one?" Adam asked. How was he going to convince the world that supernaturals weren't the monsters they believed they were if he couldn't even convince his brother? Did he believe it himself? He didn't feel any different then he did before. His head felt fuller. More voices then just his own. Percy's thoughts were running rampant and Selene was in there too. She was filling in the gaps of his knowledge regarding vampires, their history, biology and stuff. It was weird but not invasive.

"Adam....Adam?" Elliot's voice echoed past the noise in his head "are you alright? You blanked out for a moment."

"Sorry Ellie my head is a little full right now with processing what happened," he offered a reassuring smile "I'll be alright."

"No you're not," Elliot sniffled "you'll be forever changed." Sitting up Elliot looked into Adam's eyes "but I'll love you anyways. That won't ever change."

"Thank you Ellie," Adam sighed hugging him close "I needed to hear that." Turning to Kyle he asked "how are you doing?"

Looking uncomfortable Kyle shrugged "ok I guess."

"You don't have to be embarrassed," Adam put a hand on his shoulder "I know what you're going through."

Gazing up at Adam his face a riot of conflicting emotions "no you don't. How could you? I'm pregnant. Everyone will be gawking and staring at me. I might as well just stay here." He hid his face in his hands.

Kneeling beside him Adam spoke gently "Kyle you're not the first man to ever get pregnant. Believe me I know how you feel. I've had that unique experience. I've been pregnant and gave birth to my own little girl Irissa. Enjoy the experience. There's nothing better than the joy of having a baby growing inside you. Cherish it. There's not many men who will get that privilege."

Wiping his eyes Kyle looked up into Adam's warm brown eyes and was comforted. "You're not a halfling how did you manage to have a baby? I don't understand."

"It wasn't by choice I assure you. I was abducted by aliens. I don't know what they did but they altered me so that I could give birth, Irissa was the result. There's been a few alien/human hybrid births so men giving birth isn't as rare as you may think. I think one day we'll figure out how the aliens do it and duplicate it." Looking at Elliot then back at Kyle "our grandfather was working on that before he died." Patting Kyle's shoulder "if  you need hep or advice just ask. I know it can be a little scary doing it alone."

"Thank you," Kyle mumbled as he impulsively  gave Adam a hug. "It helps knowing someone has gone through it before." Turning to Elliot he said "I think your brother is going to be ok."

"Yeah I think you just might be right," Elliot smiled through his tears. "We might want to stick close to him until the baby's born though. I think we'll be needing his help."

"Is the love fest over?" Percy grumbled sitting up "my head is killing me."

"So's mine," Adam said crouching down beside him "I think it's because we have more than our own thoughts running around inside our heads."

"I think you may be right," Percy looked appalled at what he had been thinking.

"Don't worry your secrets are safe with me," Adam said giving him a stern stare

Blushing Percy looked away unable to make eye contact "this sucks that my thoughts aren't private..." he mumbled.

"I think it will get better once we adjust," Adam said standing up. A wave of vertigo hit him as he staggered into Chase. Shaking his head he felt another presence inside his mind. His eyes rolled up inside his head as he lost consciousness.

Percy screamed in agony grabbing his head. As he lost consciousness he mumbled a single word, a name "Ambrogio."

"What's happening to them?" Elliot asked watching as they thrashed about on the floor.

"Hold them down," Chase directed as he grabbed Adam and held him "they're having seizures."

Kyle moved to hold Percy so that he didn't hurt himself with his violent thrashing. Elliot watched unable to move. Jumping when the cell door opened behind him.

Alessandro and Selene entered mumbling an incantation. The boys calmed and lay still. Looking down at Chase Alessandro demanded "what happened?"

"I don't know," he shook his head "we were talking when suddenly they were convulsing."

"Percy said a name before he collapsed," Kyle spoke up "Ambrogio."

"No" Selene screamed "this can't be happening. Not again." Tears welled in eyes as she fled from the dungeon.

Alessandro watched after his wife before returning his attention to the boys. "We are linked telepathically. We knew they were danger," he answered their unasked question. "Selene was in contact with Adam teaching him our history when she felt the presence trying to take control."

"This is ridiculous," Elliot muttered staring at the vampire defiantly. "How do we know it wasn't you attacking them?"

Eyes glowing Alessandro approached Elliot "Infant if I had desired to exert control over them I would not have bestowed upon him my protection, the birthright to the throne. Adam will become a powerful vampire and his insight into human thought and frailties will enhance his powers."

What gives you the right to mess with their lives?" Elliot demanded. A force knocked him into the far wall where he remained pinned.

"El are you alright?" Kyle asked moving to go to him.

"Stay where you are," Alessandro commanded "I do not wish to harm you." Kyle looked towards Elliot who motioned for him to stay put. Kyle sat down eyes pinned to Elliot worried. "How dare you question me. At the flick of my wrist I could have you executed. A mere thought I could control your every thought and desire. I am being tolerant of your ignorance for the sake of your brother, my son." He looked down at Adam his face softening "I am not blind to your love for your brother. Your concern is admirable if annoying. Take heed child if you continue to oppose me I will exact punishment." Alessandro released Elliot as he walked from the cell.

Falling to his knees gasping for breath Elliot hugged his knees close to his chest. Leaning his head back he tried not cry. Kyle crawled over to  him ans pulled him close. "Baby it's going to be alright," Kyle said softly "you have to stop antagonizing Alessandro. He's the one in charge not us."

Breathing easier Elliot looked down at his brother "I'll try but I know if it were me in Adam's place Adam wouldn't stop until I was safe. How can I do any less?"

"How do you know he's not safe right now?" Kyle asked kissing his cheek.

"How do we know he is?" Elliot persisted looking up "I felt his terror. He reached out to me. I don't know how he did it but I felt it."

Chase hunkered down beside them looking at Elliot "if I were you I wouldn't mention that to anyone else."

"Why?" Kyle asked pulling Elliot close.

"I don't think Alessandro would like knowing Adam was reaching out to Elliot. Connecting with him instead of to them. There's already this unwelcome connection to Ambrogio. Whoever that is."

"What does it mean? Adam reaching out to Elliot instead of with this adopted family." Kyle asked.

Looking past the cell bars Chase said "it could be mean any number of things like Adam distrusts Alessandro and the real danger is them. In which case Adam is forming his own bonds that are unapproved by Alessandro. Either way it's not likely to gain him any favor with Alessandro."

"You're right," Adam mumbled sitting up "this Ambrogio presence wasn't trying to take control. At least that's not how it felt. It felt more like he was trying to protect me. The problem was Selene's reaction to him and then Alessandro stepped in. Then it was all out war inside our heads." Adam 

slowly turned towards Percy who was coming to holding his head and moaning, "are you alright?"

"I think so," Percy replied as he wiped blood from his nose.

The smell and sight of his blood sent a thrill of excitement through Adam. He licked his lips running his tongue across his fangs. Fangs? The shock knocked Adam back scrambling away from Percy. Cowering in a corner, head hanging Adam tried to clear his senses but he was inundated with the sounds of hearts beating and blood swooshing through veins. The smell was driving him wild. He wanted .... he needed ...

Chase approached him concerned at his sudden change. Touching his shoulder he gasped in shock as Adam turned on him. Eyes glowing. Fangs bared. Tripping Chase fell on his back looking up at the apparition. Percy put out a hand to stop Elliot and Kyle from helping Chase. "Don't" Percy told them. Looking intensely at Adam he reached out to him in his mind "you don't want to do this Adam."

"The hunger is so strong. I need ..."

"No you don't. You need to fight this ..."

"I can't. The urge is too strong. The smell..." Adam started to tremble as he fought to control the impulse that was driving him to feed. To sink his fangs into the boy lying before him.

"Do it my son," Selene encouraged "Then you will be like us."

"No .... I ...." Adam dropped to his knees covering his head with his hands.

"You must my son," Alessandro commanded "to be my heir you must forsake all that is human in you. Drink your fill. Make your first kill."

"I won't," Adam groaned aloud as his body shook with intense desire to fight the force driving him to feed.... to kill.

"That's right my son. Drain your first feed. Then you will know what it is to be a vampire. It will only get worse if you don't. You won't be able to fight it forever and you will remain inside the cage until you do."

"Assie you're such a liar."

"Ambrogio why are you here?" Alessandro demanded causing both Percy and Adam to cry out in pain.

"I'm protecting the child," Ambrogio shouted "he's not yours. He's mine."

"That remains to be seen," Alessandro retorted "he will drink .... then he'll be mine."

"I will not allow it," Ambrogio stated.

"You can't prevent it," Alessandro taunted.

The abrupt silence in Adam's mind was deafening. He crawled away from Chase allowing the boy to join the others. Grabbing Chase Elliot demanded "what's wrong with him?"

"I don't know," Chase replied "I thought for sure he was going to feed on me."

"He was," Percy said staring at Adam "that's why you're still here. Alessandro and Selen need him to feed. To drain his first."

"Drain as in kill?" Kyle asked his throat working in fear.

"Yes it's the last and final step in becoming a vampire," Percy frowned. "Once he does there's no going back. As long as he refrains from feeding he'll remain human. Well mostly human."

"There was a lengthy conversation between Alessandro and Ambrogio wasn't there?" Elliot asked.

 

Looking at Adam Elliot said "My brother won't hurt us." He sounded more confident then he felt.

Watching Elliot for a moment Percy shook his head at the boys confidence in his brother. "What did you hear?"

"How do I know I can trust you?" Elliot asked eyeing him "you have a reputation for turning on  your friends."

Shrugging Percy said "have it your way kid."

"I'm not a kid," Elliot muttered.

Smiling Percy asked "how much do you know about the Chandra family?"

"Nothing why?" Elliot asked mystified.

"I'm not sure," Percy hesitated "it's just that whatever is happening is centered on an old family feud and that name keeps coming up."

"Chandra was my mother's maiden name," Adam spoke from the corner "I'm sorry for ..."

"It's ok," Elliot was quick to reassure him "we understand."

Smiling sadly Adam nodded "you don't but thanks for saying so." Turning towards Percy "what does that woman have to do with what's happening?"

"I'm not sure," Percy walked towards Adam "I think it's a clue as to why Alessandro chose you as his heir instead of any of us. You already have vampire DNA in you."

"But but that would mean my brother and sisters would too ... and their kids....." Adam shook his head in shock.

"It would and no doubt once you become a full vampire Alessandro is hoping you will turn the rest of siblings. It would solidify his rule and control..."

Interrupting Percy "how do we stop this?"

"First we need to get out of here before you give in to their demands to feed."

"Good luck with that," Adam mumbled. The dungeon doors opened as someone was being escorted into their cell. "William? Why are are you here?"

Shrugging William said "I think this is my reward for returning their children safely to them."

"Where's my dad?" Elliot asked looking around expecting to see him.

"I'm sorry he didn't make it into the portal before the watchers destroyed it," William told them.

"He's still in the future," Adam suddenly felt truly alone. Somewhere in the back of his mind he was hoping his dad would come and fix everything.

"He and Emit were defending the portal so that I and the children could get through." William put a comforting hand on Adam's shoulder "Peter will be ok.  You know your dad, he'll think of something. Between him and Emit they'll fix the time portal once they've stopped the watchers." Looking around the cell he continued "we thought freeing the children would help Moonlight Falls stand up to Logan but from the looks of things that's not the only thing going on."

Before they could catch William up to speed Alessandro entered the dungeon. A gleam in his eye and a smirk upon his lips he spoke "I see you know the newest addition." Turning to William he said "thank you for returning our children. Your reward will be my son's first kill."

"No I won't," Adam shouted at the vampire covering over his own doubts in his ability to resist.

"You will. The urge will be too strong to resist."

"Leave my brother alone," Elliot snarled at him.

"Infant I've grown tired of your interference," Alessandro rushed the boy pinning him again the wall baring his fangs he said "this is going to hurt .... a lot." He sank is fangs into Elliot's neck and began to feed. Calling out to Adam "watch me son and see how it's done. Feed upon the old one and be my son in every sense."

"No," Adam screamed both in his mind and out loud. He grabbed Alessandro and whirled him around and off of Elliot.

"Child you are no match for  me,"Alessandro snarled circling Adam wiping blood from his lips. "Your brother is quite tasty. You should have some," he taunted.

"Never," Adam screamed.

"We'll see," Alessandro stated. A voice inside Adam's mind spoke "you can't have him."

"I already do," Alessandro shouted .

"No you don't or I wouldn't still be here. As long as he remains as he is I can protect him" Ambrogio replied "it's time you gave me back my throne."

"Never," Alessandro shouted.

William watched horrified as the vampires circled each other. Inching his way towards the others he asked "what's happened to Adam?"

"It a long story" Percy told him "but right now we need to get out of here."

"How?" Kyle asked fighting back tears as he watched for any sign of life in Elliot.

"Like this," Percy whipped out a wand the wizard had given him. He started to chant and point the wand as the cell doors opened "everyone out now" Percy demanded.

William tugged on Kyle to get him moving. "I can't not without Elliot" Kyle protested.

"Don't worry I'll get him," Percy told him.

Turning around to face the fighting vampire Percy aimed his wand at Alessandro and froze him.

 Adam turned and smiled "how did you do that?" 

"Magic," Percy replied "come on let's get Elliot and get out of here. The freezing spell will wear off soon."

Nodding Adam picked up his brother while Percy stood watch. As they left the dungeon Adam asked "if you could do that all along why didn't you do it before now?"
