Generation 2, Chapter 1 - Hopes and Dreams

Dreams

It's been several months since Elliot had been kidnapped and Vallari had perished in the fire. Peter found it difficult to believe his father had been Vallari's step-father. It was hard to accept that his father could raise a child and then reject her because they didn't share the same DNA. Granted his father was a different person back than however that one heartless act caused so much pain and suffering. At least now, Peter hoped Vallari was at peace and his family was safe.

Once Elias was released from the hospital he met up with Doloris at a nearby park.

"I'm so glad you're alright," she cried running and throwing her arms around him.

"Right as rain," he said with a smile.

"I can't believe you almost died because of my psycho mother."

"Shh you had no idea what she was capable of. I doubt anyone could see how warped she had become," Elias squeezed her tight saying "Let's talk about something else."

"Like what?"

"Are you coming to my graduation?"

"Wouldn't miss it."

"Good," Elias flashed her a brilliant grin. "Your Dad has given me permission to continue seeing you even though I'm almost 18 and your only 15."

"Almost 16 in 4 months," Doloris corrected.

"But the point is with your Dad's permission I wont get into trouble for dating a minor."

"Oh I didn't think of that," eyeing Elias uneasily she asked "I suppose you'll be going to college soon?"

Shaking his head "No I'm going to wait a while. I've always wanted to try my hand at writing. So I'm going to give myself a couple of years to see if I'm any good."

"Isn't that what Ethan's doing?"

"Yeah but he really hasn't accomplished much. Too many distractions."

"Maybe we could go to college together," Doloris suggested. "I'll be a junior this year and my GPA is high enough I should be able to get a scholarship. I plan on being an oncologist."

They continued to discuss their future plans and goals until Elias brought her home. Both thankful they had time and a chance to have a future together.

Adam was excited and a little anxious as he prepared for college in the fall. He knew his parents were disappointed with his decision to go to a local college so that he and Windy could be together.

Windy had come home the night before wearing her graduation robe, excited that she was finally done with school. She was even more beautiful than Adam remembered. All his doubts and concerns seemed like nothing now that she was home. He didn't even have to worry about her relationship with Vallari now that she was gone.

Adam enjoyed all the added attention he was receiving and he could hardly wait to start his adult life. He was planning to study technology and hoped to transfer to a better school once Windy received her teaching certificate. He blew his candles out, fingering the ring in his pocket.

His birthday ended without him having a chance to talk privately with Windy. He tried not to let it bother him, ignoring the nagging worry that she had been avoiding him all night.

The following week was a whirlwind of activity.   Preparation for graduation, parties for his classmates, everyone was so full of excitement and eagerness to begin their adult lives. Adam tried not to be depressed as Windy managed to avoid him all week.

Graduation finally arrived and everyone dressed up for the event. Adam had to arrive early as he was valedictorian. His stomach churned as he waited to give his speech. He tried to find faces of family and friends in the crowd to calm his nerves. There was the usual student votes and Adam wasn't surprised when he was voted most likely to be electrocuted.

Adam was determined to corner Windy as soon as they got home from graduation. He wasn't giving her a chance to avoid him tonight. He couldn't wait to ask her the most important question of his young adult life and he hoped she would make his dreams come true.
